What is Data and Information

Here we go, some of the people would be thinking that "Man this is the blog on which only and only technology related blogs are displayed then what is this Data and Information?" 

Okay we are here to let you know that what is Data and what is Information because both Data and Information are very much important for any kind of system development else we can say that every second of our life is consult with some or the other Data or Information.

If we go around and ask people that what is Data and Information? 

You will get various types of answers for this same question. So let's first of all define Data and Information. 

Data : Data is a raw material. 

Information : Information is a finished product or we can say that information is the result. 

Using data we can find or make the finished product. Data is very much essential to get any kind of information. As we said that the data is a raw material so, first we get the data and then that data is processed to get some information. Now data is not the finished product but it's a raw material. Information in derived from the data by doing some sort of process on it. Once the information is derived form the data then that information can again be used as the data to retrieve another information. This cycle never stops because man will never be in deficiency of data and also information. There are two more cases for the data and information, while the process of the data, data may lost and sometimes not even single information is leaked. 

Let's see some examples on Data and Information : 

1. If we want to find the area of the circle then radius is the raw material (data) that data is processed by applying the formula of area of the circle and what we get as the result is called the information or the finished product.

2. If you want to find the percentage of a student the  you need to consider the marks of the student as the data and then do the process by applying for formula of finding percentage and then find the percentage of that student. Now the percentage is the information that we got from the marks of the student. But as we said to you earlier that the information that we got can be considered as the data to get next information. This is a process that goes on and on. 

Now if you are clear with the data and percentage then it's well and good but if you are not clear then go through the below examples : 

- To manufacture lays wafers, the company is buying some potatoes for the farmers now that becomes the data for manufacturing the wafers. Now the company does the process of making the wafers and the wafers which are made becomes the information.
